October 28 | Charleston Strategy in the Evening

The Charleston can set the direction for your entire hand. We’ll look at how to make more strategic passing decisions, recognize what your tiles are telling you, and balance building your hand with paying attention to what your opponents may be doing.
October 30 | Defensive Play: How to Read the Table in American Mah Jongg
Holland Community Center
There’s more to Mah Jongg than your own hand. Learn to read exposures, discards, and other clues at the table so you can make smarter decisions as the game unfolds. This class is a great next step for players who are comfortable with the fundamentals of offensive play and ready to add defensive strategy to their game.
Keep Learning. Keep Playing. Keep Having Fun.
No matter where you are in your Mah Jongg journey, there’s always something new to learn.
Maybe you’re still getting comfortable with the NMJL card. Maybe you’re feeling more confident building a hand and making your Charleston decisions. Or maybe you’re ready to start paying closer attention to what’s happening around the table.
You don’t have to learn it all at once. Take one step, play a few more games, and build your skills from there.
Come to a class, join an open play, or invite a friend to learn and play with you.
And if you’ve enjoyed your time with Mahj Mind, I’d love for you to share a class or open play with someone who might enjoy American Mah Jongg as much as you do. Your referrals help introduce new players to the game and help us continue building a welcoming Mah Jongg community.
I hope to see you at the table soon!
